Memorial and Commemorative Gifts
A monetary gift to purchase library materials or equipment is a meaningful way to honor someone’s memory or celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary, or graduation.
Donors may suggest subject areas, genres, or authors when giving toward books and materials. Library staff carefully consider these suggestions and select items that are appropriate for the collection and useful to the community. A bookplate with the donor’s inscription will be placed in the item.
Gifts and In-Kind Donations
Minerva Public Library welcomes direct gifts and in-kind donations of materials and equipment. Donated items are evaluated to determine how they can best support the library’s mission.
For example, donated books may be added to the collection for patrons to borrow, or they may be used in the library’s book sale.
Memorials, endowments, commemorative gifts, and other financial contributions that are not specifically for materials or equipment are also appreciated. The Library Director will work with donors to discuss these gifts, which are subject to review and approval by the Library Board of Trustees.
The library is unable to appraise the value of donated items. However, we are happy to provide either a formal Acknowledgement of In-Kind Donation or a letter acknowledging a cash gift for tax purposes.
